On Skepsis the payout is deterministic. When you take a position, the app shows the exact amount you receive if the outcome lands in your range, and that amount is locked for your trade. No shifting odds are applied retroactively to a position you already hold.
LMSR fixes your shares at the moment of purchase. Each winning share pays a fixed amount on resolution. Later trades by others move the live quote for the next trade, not the payout on shares you already hold.
The quote moves. The price to open a new position changes as the distribution shifts, so the multiple you can get changes over time. That is why trading early, before the crowd agrees, tends to pay more. See understanding ranges.
